Partnership aims to enhance cardiac MRI efficiency with AI-powered diagnostics

GE HealthCare Korea has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Phantomics, a South Korean medical AI startup specializing in cardiac imaging, to improve the efficiency and accuracy of cardiac MRI exams in hospitals.

Under the agreement, the two companies will:

  • Co-develop educational materials, clinical guidelines, and hospital workshops.
  • Improve image quality, reduce scan times, and optimize imaging protocols.
  • Jointly train clinicians—GE HealthCare will focus on equipment operation, while Phantomics will provide training on cardiac MRI interpretation and AI analysis.

Phantomics is known for its AI solution Myomics, which automates cardiac MRI analysis in under 5 minutes. The company was founded in 2019 by Prof. Byung Wook Choi of Severance Hospital and Dr. Pan Ki Kim, and has received global recognition including the CES 2024 Innovation Award.

GE HealthCare Korea General Manager Kim Yong-duk stated, “Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death globally. Together with Phantomics, we aim to reduce exam times and improve diagnostic accuracy to support prevention and treatment.”

Phantomics CEO Pan Ki Kim added, “We’ve been working to lower the barriers to cardiac MRI and CT exams using AI specialized for the heart. This partnership will help bring our technology into more clinical settings.”
